Denver HVAC Repair

5) Check certifications. Many HVAC professionals belong to the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) or the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA). Both sites provide listings of HVAC contractors by area. Look for contractors whose technicians are certified by North American Technician Excellence (NATE) and partnered with ENERGY STAR.

Are there watermarks on your ceiling? Visible leaks around your outdoor unit? Has your AC system completely stopped working? If you notice any of these signs, it’s in your best interest to call an AC technician to fix the issue before it causes more problems for you, your AC system, and your home. To learn more about potential AC malfunctions and how we fix AC issues, visit our AC Repair page.

Some types of filters are reusable; others must be replaced. They are available in a variety of types and efficiencies. Clean or replace your air conditioning system's filter or filters every month or two during the cooling season. Filters may need more frequent attention if the air conditioner is in constant use, is subjected to dusty conditions, or you have fur-bearing pets in the house.
Air duct cleaning is done by heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) professionals. The pros use industrial-strength, truck-mounted vacuums and powerful brushes and hoses to clean inside the metal ducts that make up your forced air heating and cooling system. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends duct cleaning if there is “substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface ducts, ducts that are infested with vermin such as rodents or insects, or ducts that are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris and/or particles are actually released into the home from your supply registers.”

Air-source heat pumps are more popular in milder winter climates where the temperature is frequently in the range of 4–13 °C (40–55 °F), because heat pumps become inefficient in more extreme cold. This is because ice forms on the outdoor unit's heat exchanger coil, which blocks air flow over the coil. To compensate for this, the heat pump system must temporarily switch back into the regular air conditioning mode to switch the outdoor evaporator coil back to being the condenser coil, so that it can heat up and defrost. A heat pump system will therefore have a form of electric resistance heating in the indoor air path that is activated only in this mode in order to compensate for the temporary indoor air cooling, which would otherwise be uncomfortable in the winter.

Poor dehumidification can also be caused by excessive humidity in the home. This may be caused by water leaks or open windows during humid periods or by a lack of proper condensate drainage from your evaporator coil in the furnace's plenum. A properly functioning cooling unit produces condensate and drains it away. If your unit is not producing condensate its cooling and dehumidification functions are not working properly.

A contactor is a $25 mechanical relay that uses low-voltage power from the thermostat to switch 220-volt high-amperage current to the compressor and condenser fan. AC contactors can wear out and are at the top of the list of common air conditioning service failures. Even if your contactor is working, it pays to replace it every five years or so. Unscrew the old contactor before removing the wires. Then move the wires to the new unit (photo 6).

Most of the time, diagnosing problems is simple and other times it can be a complicated process where the HVAC technician calls in another HVAC technician. The technician may call in an HVAC manufacturer representative. Residential and commercial heating and cooling is important and you want the best possible HVAC air conditioning and heating service. It does not matter whether you have a Carrier Air Conditioner, Trane Air Conditioners, or need a replacement, whatever, it is best to get a qualified technician to look at your system before a decision is made to repair or replace the air conditioner or heat pump systems.
HVAC is an important part of residential structures such as single family homes, apartment buildings, hotels and senior living facilities, medium to large industrial and office buildings such as skyscrapers and hospitals, on ships and submarines, and in marine environments, where safe and healthy building conditions are regulated with respect to temperature and humidity, using fresh air from outdoors.
ISO 16813:2006 is one of the ISO building environment standards.[27] It establishes the general principles of building environment design. It takes into account the need to provide a healthy indoor environment for the occupants as well as the need to protect the environment for future generations and promote collaboration among the various parties involved in building environmental design for sustainability. ISO16813 is applicable to new construction and the retrofit of existing buildings.[28]
Whether you’re starting your air conditioner for the first time this year, or a unit isn’t running properly and you need to service an air conditioner, following a few simple steps can save you time and money. While some service jobs should be left to a professional, there are several do-it-yourself fixes you can do to keep your air conditioner cooling all summer long.
As for the price I think my review was fair in stating what value we got for what I deemed to be a slightly higher price than others might charge.  I did not take any stars off for the price, and still am not, but I am taking another star off because of Alberto's comments, which are deceptive and not the same thing he told me in person.  Alberto, I suggest you stick with the high road in the future.

Window unit air conditioners are installed in an open window. The interior air is cooled as a fan blows it over the evaporator. On the exterior the heat drawn from the interior is dissipated into the environment as a second fan blows outside air over the condenser. A large house or building may have several such units, allowing each room to be cooled separately.

In 1992, a non-governmental organization, Greenpeace, was spurred by corporate executive policies and requested that a European lab find substitute refrigerants. This led to two alternatives, one a blend of propane (R290) and isobutane (R600a), and one of pure isobutane.[18][22] Industry resisted change in Europe until 1993, and in the U.S. until 2011, despite some supportive steps in 2004 and 2008 (see Refrigerant Development above).[27][67]

The changing seasons take a toll on your HVAC equipment. Unfortunately, it always seems that your aging furnace gives up in the middle of a cold snap and your AC unit sputters out during the hottest day of summer. These events are more than an annoyance: they can quickly turn into emergencies when your home reaches extreme temperatures. That's when it's time to call in your local ARS®/Rescue Rooter® HVAC specialist, who has the training to get to the root of any heating, ventilation or air conditioning problem quickly.
"Customer service was great, and the price was in-line with other places, and fast service. We had a whole replacement of the outside and inside. I would have liked to see a better install for the furnace and new thermostat - the new thermostat should have gone where the old one was, and even tho the new furnace was a tight fit, they didn't offer to come back and repair the case molding, or give me a discount on the damage done, and I believe they should have put a disconnect box on the outside of the home, to make it easier for any future repairs needed. Other than that, am very happy with the cooling and heating!"

Energy efficiency can be improved even more in central heating systems by introducing zoned heating. This allows a more granular application of heat, similar to non-central heating systems. Zones are controlled by multiple thermostats. In water heating systems the thermostats control zone valves, and in forced air systems they control zone dampers inside the vents which selectively block the flow of air. In this case, the control system is very critical to maintaining a proper temperature.
Does your home's temperature need a little adjusting? An HVAC contract is a document that establishes your agreement with the contractor you hire to fix or maintain your heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. It's best to create a free HVAC contract before the work has even begun. We'll help you take down the details of your project so work can begin and your place will get back to a comfy temperature, fast.
Its unique feature is the presence of one main external unit that connected to several indoor units. Such systems might be the right solution for maintaining the microclimate in several offices, shops, large living spaces. Just few of outdoor units do not worsen the aesthetic appearance of the building. The main external unit can be connected to several different indoor types: floor, ceiling, cassette, etc.

HVAC pros are busy, especially in the summer. Just because you need an AC repair right now, that does not mean an HVAC pro will be available. Additionally, if they are free, your cost to repair the AC unit just went up. Emergency situations call for changes in schedules, surprise road trips and many other sudden situations. As such, air conditioning contractors tend to charge more.
Should you need to replace an air conditioning unit, Abacus Plumbing recommends Lennox brand of air conditioning and heating systems. Refrigeration air conditioning equipment usually reduces the absolute humidity of the air processed by the system. The relatively cold (below the dewpoint) evaporator coil condenses water vapor from the processed air, much like an ice-cold drink will condense water on the outside of a glass. Therefore, water vapor is removed from the cooled air and the relative humidity in the room is lowered. The water is usually sent to a drain or may simply drip onto the ground outdoors. The heat is rejected by the condenser which is located outside of room to be cooled.

We have been using Bill Howe Plumbing's service for more than 25 years and have been pleasantly surprised at how consistently they perform an excellent service call. We use them for our home and our rental properties, and their dispatchers and technicians have always been the best at problem solving; our tenants have told us how great the service is as well. When we needed air conditioning service, naturally we called Bill Howe first. There's no reason to call anyone else. I know the job will be done right the first time, with fair pricing and professional service.

We moved into a new home and had issues with the heating ducts in one of the rooms. We called HVAC based on other yelp reviews. Overall, everyone we dealt with were friendly, professional and knowledgeable: From the people on the phone managing the schedule to the those performing the work in our house. The day before the scheduled work we asked if additional work could be done (clothes dryer duct cleaning), which they were able to accommodate. The people working at the house were on time, very polite, took great care to keep the house clean during the entire job and explained everything when they were finished. I will certainly use HVAC again.
Should you experience a system breakdown, know that there are a few common causes of summer AC repairs. Below you’ll find a few of the most common ones AC repair technicians face each day throughout the warmer months. Having a better understanding of the troubles your system may face can help you feel more at ease with the AC repair process, and better comprehend the information given to you by your technician.
Replacement of air filters: dirty filters can lower your unit’s efficiency and cause damage. You can perform monthly checks and cleanings yourself. If your AC is in constant use, you’ll need to replace the filters once per month to keep the unit running properly. Filters typically cost $15-$60. Some filters are reusable, and only need regular cleaning.

A home that is too dry in the winter can affect the health of your entire family, causing itchy skin, chapped lips, and aggravating allergies and colds. A whole-home humidifier improves the air quality of your home by adding water vapor through your HVAC system. Having Brubaker Inc. install a humidifier to your HVAC system is a simple step that adds immediate relief and comfort throughout your home.

It can be hard to make the decision to replace or repair your AC unit. However, in many cases, homeowners call in HVAC professionals to check their units and provide a second opinion. A technician can tell you if there’s plenty of life left in your old air conditioning unit or that it’s time to let it go and get a new one. Your HVAC technician may check out your home’s insulation quality, too. You could increase your system’s effectiveness by improving the insulation.
The myth that most people believe is that if you add more refrigerant to the unit it will cool better. This is only true if the evaporator coil is operating below freezing. The unit must have a balanced charge at the correct refrigerant pressure for the temperature and usually, only an HVAC professional can charge your unit properly. Another misconception about refrigerant is that the unit burns it up and it must be replaced from time to time. This is not true. Furthermore, the refrigerant loop is a closed system and barring any leaks the air conditioning system should never need any refrigerant.

Got to say that I am very pleased with their work. The knowledge of the technician was on the spot. She was very professional at all times sharing her expertise and advice with me. Going further, I have hired some other pro's from this website to fix my AC and none them identified a faulty connection on the AC blower control board as my technician from Superior AC did. The price for the repair was fair, no overpricing at all. I am pretty sure that I will call them again and definitively recommend them. Thanks!! Aurelio
