Denver HVAC Repair

While it should be rare to have problems occur with new equipment, it does happen. When it does, you want a good troubleshooter who is knowledgeable and can make the diagnosis and repair in a timely and efficient manner. That means you want that HVAC contractor who sends their technicians to HVAC technical seminars and factory sponsored training classes. That can make the difference between solving the problem quickly and efficiently in hours or being frustrated waiting days or weeks to have the problem solved. Take the time to choose your contractor wisely and it will save you a lot of heartache and frustration.

Beyond changing the air filter on a regular basis, one of the best ways to ensure your home's HVAC system is operating at peak efficiency is to have a qualified professional HVAC contractor tune up the system on a biannual basis. Energy Star recommends scheduling your system tune-up around the beginning of daylight savings time in the fall and its end in the spring. It's an easy way to remember to have your system serviced before the peak heating and cooling seasons. A standard tune-up is likely to cost you between $70 and $100, but it's money well spent.
Allow our experts to help with any of your heating and cooling needs or questions. “We had a great experience with Robinson’s! The office staff, then the gentleman who helped me with questions over the phone and Kyle, our service tech, were all great and very easy to work with. They gave me a time frame for when to expect Kyle the same day. A phone call to let me know he was on his way. A text with picture so I knew who to be expecting. Kyle arrived on time and was very knowledgeable and friendly. He did a great job. You could tell he liked his job. Prices were reasonable. We will be using and recommending Robinson’s Air – Wichita Falls in the future.”

In 2006, a new HVAC rule went into affect for residential air conditioners, requiring all to have a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) of 13 or higher. As you might expect, the more efficient the unit is (or newer), the lower your average AC repair cost will be. Keep in mind, if for some reason your high-efficient repair bill is high, you’re still saving on energy costs every month through your electric and gas bills.

There is nothing worse than having your air conditioner break in the middle of a long, hot summer. You can ensure your air conditioning unit stays in working order all year long with regular service. Sometimes, however, repairs are necessary whether it’s fixing the evaporator, capacitor, or condenser or recharging the refrigerant. Most air conditioner repairs cost between $163 and $528 with most homeowners reporting that they spend about $344. If you do need a repair, here is some information to help you get it done quickly, professionally, and economically.
The 2nd-century Chinese mechanical engineer and inventor Ding Huan of the Han Dynasty invented a rotary fan for air conditioning, with seven wheels 3 m (10 ft) in diameter and manually powered by prisoners of the time.[6] In 747, Emperor Xuanzong (r. 712–762) of the Tang Dynasty (618–907) had the Cool Hall (Liang Dian 涼殿) built in the imperial palace, which the Tang Yulin describes as having water-powered fan wheels for air conditioning as well as rising jet streams of water from fountains. During the subsequent Song Dynasty (960–1279), written sources mentioned the air conditioning rotary fan as even more widely used.[7]
The most important maintenance task that will ensure the efficiency of your air conditioner is to routinely replace or clean its filters. Clogged, dirty filters block normal airflow and reduce a system's efficiency significantly. With normal airflow obstructed, air that bypasses the filter may carry dirt directly into the evaporator coil and impair the coil's heat-absorbing capacity. Replacing a dirty, clogged filter with a clean one can lower your air conditioner's energy consumption by 5% to 15%.
The selection of indoor units has one restriction - their total power should not exceed the capacity of the outdoor unit. In practice, however, it is very common to see a multi-split system with a total capacity of indoor units greater than the outdoor capacity by at least 20%. However, it is wrong to expect better performance when all indoor units are turned on at the same time, since the total capacity of the whole system is limited by the capacity of the outdoor unit. Simply put, the outdoor unit will distribute all its power to all operating indoor units in such a way that some of the rooms may not have a very comfortable temperature level. However, the calculation of the total power is not simple, since it takes into account not only the nominal power of the units, but also the cooling capacity, heating, dehumidification, humidification, venting, etc.
"Customer service was great, and the price was in-line with other places, and fast service. We had a whole replacement of the outside and inside. I would have liked to see a better install for the furnace and new thermostat - the new thermostat should have gone where the old one was, and even tho the new furnace was a tight fit, they didn't offer to come back and repair the case molding, or give me a discount on the damage done, and I believe they should have put a disconnect box on the outside of the home, to make it easier for any future repairs needed. Other than that, am very happy with the cooling and heating!"
The use of furnaces, space heaters, and boilers as a method of indoor heating could result in incomplete combustion and the emission of carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, formaldehyde, volatile organic compounds, and other combustion byproducts. Incomplete combustion occurs when there is insufficient oxygen; the inputs are fuels containing various contaminants and the outputs are harmful byproducts, most dangerously carbon monoxide, which is a tasteless and odorless gas with serious adverse health effects.[14]
The icing problem becomes much more severe with lower outdoor temperatures, so heat pumps are commonly installed in tandem with a more conventional form of heating, such as a natural gas or oil furnace, which is used instead of the heat pump during harsher winter temperatures. In this case, the heat pump is used efficiently during the milder temperatures, and the system is switched to the conventional heat source when the outdoor temperature is lower.
Routine maintenance involves replacing or cleaning the filters if so equipped, and keeping the outside air intake free of debris. After years of service the air exchanger will become crusted with grease and dirt that collects during condensation. Removing this accumulation will probably take solvents or degreasers and require opening up the cabinet and compartments.
Each spring and fall before you start using your air conditioner, furnace, or other heating and cooling systems, you should get a tune-up to ensure your HVAC system is ready for the season. By spending a little twice a year, you can save a lot in energy bills by keeping your system operating at peak efficiency. You also can avoid costly repairs by identifying and fixing minor problems before they turn into big ones. Plus, many homeowners don't realize that their manufacturer's warranties may be considered invalid if they aren't getting their unit serviced twice a year.

Before you service an air conditioner, make sure the unit is turned completely off by unplugging or shutting off the circuit breaker. Then, rake off any debris from the unit and use a soft brush to remove dirt from the outside cover. If the small copper pipe connecting the unit to the house feels hot, the unit’s coils likely needs to be washed. Remove the outside cover, cover the motor and wiring with a plastic sheet, and hose down the fins, coils, and inside of the unit. Finally, replace the cover when you’re done.

A home HVAC system tends to break down when you need it the most–either during a cold winter night or a sweltering summer afternoon. During times of great need, 24-hour emergency service is available (and are guaranteed for members of our HVAC service plans). For most HVAC calls, our technicians will have everything they need in their well-stocked van to fix what is broken that day.
Many homes in Portland don't have air conditioning of any kind. Whether your home is decades old or just a few years, the wisdom is that the moderate climate of Portland will be enough to keep you comfortable. In fact, when building a home, you typically need to request air conditioning installation from your home builder. With an average of only two weeks or so worth of days that hit 90 degrees, many people simply can't justify the expense. Of course, HomeAdvisor does see quite a few Portland air conditioning installation requests, simply because so many homeowners don't have central air. If you've decided it's time to indulge yourself or have recently moved into a Portland home without air conditioning, we can help you find a contractor who will help you with any or all of your A/C needs.
Though Harrison had commercial success establishing a second ice company back in Sydney in 1860, he later entered the debate over how to compete against the American advantage of ice-refrigerated beef sales to the United Kingdom. He wrote: "Fresh meat frozen and packed as if for a voyage, so that the refrigerating process may be continued for any required period", and in 1873 prepared the sailing ship Norfolk for an experimental beef shipment to the United Kingdom. His choice of a cold room system instead of installing a refrigeration system upon the ship itself proved disastrous when the ice was consumed faster than expected.[citation needed]

There is a premium for most any service company to come out afterhours or weekends, and being we are one of the very few companies to offer this service, a higher labor rate is understandable, after all, we have to pay our service persons an overtime rate for such calls.

We live in a recently completed townhouse that was built with double-wall construction. That construction method was touted by the builder as what would keep sound from penetrating between the units. But we can hear the next door neighbors' TV and stereo, and sometimes voices and even snoring, through the wall. While sometimes it's the volume, mostly it's the bass sounds coming through the wall. They say they don't hear us, but we keep our bass turned down. They crank up the bass, and they are not going to change that. They also are not going to do anything construction-wise to help from their side. What is the best way for us to try to block the low frequency/bass sounds from penetrating the existing wall into our side?
This problem can be caused by an air-conditioning system that is too large for the house. If your system has always failed to dehumidify adequately, and it commonly short cycles (turns on and off frequently), an oversized system is a likely cause. An oversized system can cool the air so fast that the thermostat shuts off the system before much of the humid air has made its way across the cooling coil to get dehumidified.

Per hour service charges are not the only way companies charge their customers. There are also service companies that flat rate their services. Either way, you pay, you want the service and troubleshooting done in a quick and efficient manner with a guarantee. Do your research before selecting a company to provide reliable, honest service to your home. If you know what the problem is then the company can likely give you an estimate over the phone. Some will while some do not. Why? Because they likely want to verify the problem to make sure it is a correct assessment. It can be a complex issue and what you think it is it may not be the problem. So you can expect to pay for a service call and troubleshooting charge. Most HVAC service companies do not give free estimates on repairs.
It costs approximately $35,000.00 to properly stock an HVAC air conditioning and heating service van (not mentioning the cost of the van itself), office overhead including marketing, phone, fax, business licenses, professional licenses, insurance, advertising, marketing, and did I mention advertising and marketing, Employee costs including payroll, insurance (out of control), benefits, etc…………, and ongoing training and HVAC educational requirements to remain knowledgeable, competitive, and to retain HVAC professional licenses.
Other workers sometimes help HVACR technicians install or repair cooling and heating systems. For example, on a large air conditioning installation job, especially one in which workers are covered by union contracts, ductwork may be installed by sheet metal workers, electrical work by electricians, and pipework by plumbers, pipefitters, and steamfitters. Boiler systems are sometimes installed by a boilermaker.

Heaters are appliances whose purpose is to generate heat (i.e. warmth) for the building. This can be done via central heating. Such a system contains a boiler, furnace, or heat pump to heat water, steam, or air in a central location such as a furnace room in a home, or a mechanical room in a large building. The heat can be transferred by convection, conduction, or radiation.
