Denver HVAC Repair

Per hour service charges are not the only way companies charge their customers. There are also service companies that flat rate their services. Either way, you pay, you want the service and troubleshooting done in a quick and efficient manner with a guarantee. Do your research before selecting a company to provide reliable, honest service to your home. If you know what the problem is then the company can likely give you an estimate over the phone. Some will while some do not. Why? Because they likely want to verify the problem to make sure it is a correct assessment. It can be a complex issue and what you think it is it may not be the problem. So you can expect to pay for a service call and troubleshooting charge. Most HVAC service companies do not give free estimates on repairs.

Eventually, every homeowner experiences a malfunction in their heating unit. It’s a cold morning and you hike the thermostat up like you usually do to take the chill off, but you get no response. You don’t hear the system firing up or feel the radiators or air vents producing any heat. You hope it’s just a quick fix, like a clogged filter or a tripped circuit breaker. On the other hand, you might be wondering if it’s more cost-effective to just have the unit replaced.

You are in luck though, because Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is committed to doing expert quality furnace and heat pump repair, maintenance and installation through North America. It’s our job to make sure you are left with complete comfort in your home.
In the refrigeration cycle, heat is transported from a colder location to a hotter area. As heat would naturally flow in the opposite direction, work is required to achieve this. A refrigerator is an example of such a system, as it transports the heat out of the interior and into its environment. The refrigerant is used as the medium which absorbs and removes heat from the space to be cooled and subsequently ejects that heat elsewhere.
Special chemicals can be used to clean mineral deposits, but one of the safest is vinegar. A 50% mixture of vinegar and water will usually dissolve or help clean away deposits. If the humidifier has a drum with a belt, replacement of the belt at the beginning of the heating season can be the easiest fix if the water has a high mineral content. If the humidifier has screens or is the wick type, some corrosion can occur as well as build up
Consequently, this water must exit the air handler—typically through plastic pipe or a drain tube. That drain tube goes directly outside, often terminating near the compressor, or to a floor drain or to a small electric “condensate pump” located by the air handler. Where a condensate pump is used, it connects to a 1/2-inch vinyl or rubber tube that exits outdoors or to a drain.
The myth that most people believe is that if you add more refrigerant to the unit it will cool better. This is only true if the evaporator coil is operating below freezing. The unit must have a balanced charge at the correct refrigerant pressure for the temperature and usually, only an HVAC professional can charge your unit properly. Another misconception about refrigerant is that the unit burns it up and it must be replaced from time to time. This is not true. Furthermore, the refrigerant loop is a closed system and barring any leaks the air conditioning system should never need any refrigerant.

The selection of the working fluids (refrigerants) has a significant impact not only on the performance of the air conditioners but on the environment as well. Most refrigerants used for air conditioning contribute to global warming, and many also deplete the ozone layer.[59] CFCs, HCFCs, and HFCs are potent greenhouse gases when leaked to the atmosphere.

If your air conditioner is old, consider buying an energy-efficient model. Look for the ENERGY STAR® and EnergyGuide labels — qualified central units are about 15% more efficient than standard models. New residential central air conditioner standards went into effect on January 1, 2015; see the efficiency standards for central air conditioners for details, and consider purchasing a system with a higher SEER than the minimum for greater savings.

Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC[1]) is the technology of indoor and vehicular environmental comfort. Its goal is to provide thermal comfort and acceptable indoor air quality. HVAC system design is a subdiscipline of mechanical engineering, based on the principles of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer. "Refrigeration" is sometimes added to the field's abbreviation, as HVAC&R or HVACR or "ventilation" is dropped, as in HACR (as in the designation of HACR-rated circuit breakers).

There is a premium for most any service company to come out afterhours or weekends, and being we are one of the very few companies to offer this service, a higher labor rate is understandable, after all, we have to pay our service persons an overtime rate for such calls.

These guys came out same day to attempt to repair our unit. Unfortunately the repair didn't work (15 year old unit) so they came out early Saturday morning and did an emergency installation for us. They quoted us a fair and honest price when another company was dishonest with us and tried to take a lot of money from us for nothing. I will highly recommend these guys to my friends and family.
Replacement of air filters: dirty filters can lower your unit’s efficiency and cause damage. You can perform monthly checks and cleanings yourself. If your AC is in constant use, you’ll need to replace the filters once per month to keep the unit running properly. Filters typically cost $15-$60. Some filters are reusable, and only need regular cleaning.

After discussing faulty AC system symptoms with you, Jiffy Lube® technicians begin the service by visually inspecting the air conditioning compressor drive belt, serpentine belt and all accessible components for cracks, leaks or damage. Then they check the operation of the air conditioning compressor. If no leaks or damage are found, they evacuate the refrigerant from the system, vacuum test it, and recharge the air conditioning system using the appropriate refrigerant according to your vehicle manufacturer's recommendations.
If your HVAC equipment is more than 10 years old or not keeping your house comfortable, have it evaluated by a professional HVAC contractor. If it is not performing efficiently or needs upgrading, consider replacing it with a unit that has earned the ENERGY STAR. Depending on where you live, replacing your old heating and cooling equipment with ENERGY STAR qualified equipment can cut your annual energy bill by more than $115. But before you invest in a new HVAC system, make sure that you have addressed the big air leaks in your house and the duct system. Sometimes, these are the real sources of problems rather than your HVAC equipment.

In very dry climates, evaporative coolers, sometimes referred to as swamp coolers or desert coolers, are popular for improving coolness during hot weather. An evaporative cooler is a device that draws outside air through a wet pad, such as a large sponge soaked with water. The sensible heat of the incoming air, as measured by a dry bulb thermometer, is reduced. The temperature of the incoming air is reduced, but it is also more humid, so the total heat (sensible heat plus latent heat) is unchanged. Some of the sensible heat of the entering air is converted to latent heat by the evaporation of water in the wet cooler pads. If the entering air is dry enough, the results can be quite substantial.

The use of furnaces, space heaters, and boilers as a method of indoor heating could result in incomplete combustion and the emission of carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, formaldehyde, volatile organic compounds, and other combustion byproducts. Incomplete combustion occurs when there is insufficient oxygen; the inputs are fuels containing various contaminants and the outputs are harmful byproducts, most dangerously carbon monoxide, which is a tasteless and odorless gas with serious adverse health effects.[14]
In hot weather, air conditioning can prevent heat stroke, dehydration from excessive sweating and other problems related to hyperthermia. Heat waves are the most lethal type of weather phenomenon in developed countries. Air conditioning (including filtration, humidification, cooling and disinfection) can be used to provide a clean, safe, hypoallergenic atmosphere in hospital operating rooms and other environments where proper atmosphere is critical to patient safety and well-being. It is sometimes recommended for home use by people with allergies.
Low refrigerant charges take away from the life of the compressor. The compressor is cooled from the return refrigerant vapor. When there is a low charge there are fewer vapors to cool the compressor, therefore it runs hotter. Any compressor (or electric motor for that matter) which runs above the recommended temperature range will have a shorter life span and cost more to operate.
HVAC pros are busy, especially in the summer. Just because you need an AC repair right now, that does not mean an HVAC pro will be available. Additionally, if they are free, your cost to repair the AC unit just went up. Emergency situations call for changes in schedules, surprise road trips and many other sudden situations. As such, air conditioning contractors tend to charge more.
Central home air conditioner service systems consist of two major components: a condensing unit that sits outside your house, and the evaporator coil (often referred to as an A-coil) that sits in the plenum of your furnace or air handler. The refrigerant in the A-coil picks up the heat from your home and moves it to the outdoor condensing unit. The condensing unit fan blows outside air through the condensing coil to remove the heat. The condensing unit houses the three parts replaceable by a DIYer: the contactor, the start/run capacitor(s) and the condenser fan motor. The condensing unit also houses the compressor, but only a pro can replace that. The A-coil has no parts that can be serviced by a DIYer.
