Circulating refrigerant vapor enters the compressor, where its pressure and temperature are increased. The hot, compressed refrigerant vapor is now at a temperature and pressure at which it can be condensed and is routed through a condenser. Here it is cooled by air flowing across the condenser coils and condensed into a liquid. Thus, the circulating refrigerant removes heat from the system and the heat is carried away by the air. The removal of this heat can be greatly augmented by pouring water over the condenser coils, making it much cooler when it hits the expansion valve.

Although ground temperatures vary according to latitude, at 6 feet (1.8 m) underground, temperatures generally only range from 45 to 75 °F (7 to 24 °C).

I have a recurring problem of having to have freon added to my A/C system. I have even replaced both units inside and outside but seem to have the same problem. I believe that it must be in the lines between the outside and inside. Is there anything that can be put into the lines to seal any leaks if this is the problem? If not is it advised that the lines be replaced?
This is a very common air conditioning problem. The unit will cool for a few hours and then it stops cooling all together. The next day or several hours later the air conditioning is cooling again but for only a few hours and then the air conditioning stops again. The reason this is happening is because the air conditioning unit is low on refrigerant because you have a refrigerant leak (the unit could freeze because of a few other air conditioning problems but this is the most common reason).
SEER is related to the coefficient of performance (COP) commonly used in thermodynamics and also to the Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER). The EER is the efficiency rating for the equipment at a particular pair of external and internal temperatures, while SEER is calculated over a whole range of external temperatures (i.e., the temperature distribution for the geographical location of the SEER test). SEER is unusual in that it is composed of an Imperial unit divided by an SI unit. The COP is a ratio with the same metric units of energy (joules) in both the numerator and denominator. I have no idea what a barrel is??? In chilled water systems the evaporator and condensers sometimes use what is called a chiller barrel for the evaporator and/or the condenser but for most residential system it is a rarity to find a chilled water system installed. Are you talking about a commercial system chiller. 7.1 KW is not a very big system but they do exist in light commercial and as mentioned in residential.

Warm household air blows through the evaporator coils, which transfer the heat into refrigerant vapor, which is then moved to the condenser in the outdoor part of the unit. To clean your air conditioner drain, first shut off the power to your unit at both the thermostat and the breaker. Then remove the drain pan. If the pan is full of water, soak up the liquid with a few towels or rags or use a wet vacuum. You can use a solution of water and distilled vinegar, or substitute peroxide for the vinegar, to clean out the drain pipe. Let the pipe sit for a while in the solution and then put all the parts back in place. a/c compressor needed replacing. the A Team Mechanical found a way to return the next day to complete the repairs and made sure the system was running effectively. Even put down another concrete base pad to level the a/c unit. They were professionals and straight forward with the services needed. All the other HVAC companies wanted to charge me three time the amount for the services.

Low refrigerant charges take away from the life of the compressor. The compressor is cooled from the return refrigerant vapor. When there is a low charge there are fewer vapors to cool the compressor, therefore it runs hotter. Any compressor (or electric motor for that matter) which runs above the recommended temperature range will have a shorter life span and cost more to operate.
Please note: this is a review from someone who never got service from here. They just chose to ignore my calls for a heating emergency. Who knows, they might have give great service, if they actually return a promised phone call. I actually call them this past Saturday night. It was chilly, we turned the furnace on...... Poof.... Nothing. So, I look them up on Yelp. Good reviews with a few bad goods added, plus a Yelp deal. I gave them a call, the at about 6 pm. I know, 6pm on a Saturday, who's going to come out, well, they did. They woman, I assume their receptionist, answers and I told her I need someone out here. She assured me someone will call me back in 15 mins. Half hour to 45 mins later, no calls from them. I figured maybe they wrote the number down wrong, it happens. So, I called them again. They got the number correct, got my name and address correct, and was told they will call me back in 10 mins. I even asked if this is something they don't do, as in services on a Saturday night. I was told by the receptionist that they do and I would just be ok calling another company if they is not part of their services. They again assured me someone WILL call me in 10 mins. Well, unless their definition of 10 mins is never, then they got it wrong as I am still waiting to be called 5 days later.
They were quick to come out and diagnose the problem with my furnace, but I thought the estimate of $549 a bit high to replace the circuit board. So called around and found Leo's Appliance in Concord that sells appliance parts and the circuit board was only $90.49 - that is the retail cost to me, so I imagine the wholesale cost is a lot less. So BEWARE of this company since they wanted $500!!! to replace the circuit board which is located right in the front of the furnace - extremely easy to access. I hate it that you cannot trust repair companies. So if money is not a concern for you give them a call as they very prompt and professional and others have been happy with their service

SEER ratings are based on seasonal temperature averages instead of a constant 35 °C (95 °F) outdoor temperature. The current industry minimum SEER rating is 14 SEER.[24]
