A home that is too dry in the winter can affect the health of your entire family, causing itchy skin, chapped lips, and aggravating allergies and colds. A whole-home humidifier improves the air quality of your home by adding water vapor through your HVAC system. Having Brubaker Inc. install a humidifier to your HVAC system is a simple step that adds immediate relief and comfort throughout your home.
When your heating or cooling system finally breaks, it’s not usually during convenient office hours or in mild weather. Your HVAC unit has to work harder during extreme conditions like a sweltering summer day or freezing winter night, so it is much more likely to fail during those times. R.S. Andrews has our customers’ safety and comfort as our priority, so we offer service 24 hours a day for emergencies. No matter when your equipment fails, you can count on us to repair it quickly and efficiently!

An HVAC service contract can be a very cost-effective way to make sure your system is properly maintained and to have someone on call when things go wrong. Depending on the amount of services offered, they cost between $150 and $500 per year, but they often include yearly inspections of both your furnace and A/C, discounts on major repairs, and preferred scheduling status when you have problems during the busy season.

There is a premium for most any service company to come out afterhours or weekends, and being we are one of the very few companies to offer this service, a higher labor rate is understandable, after all, we have to pay our service persons an overtime rate for such calls.

If the unit isn't turning on, check on it outside to make sure the condenser is still running. It should be fully plugged in and the thermostat should be set. Lower the thermostat by a few more degrees than your typical setting. You should hear it power on after doing so. If that doesn't take care of the problem, check your fuse box. You could have a blown fuse or a tripped circuit that's causing the air conditioner to not turn on.
Before you reach out to local HVAC companies, jot down a few notes. Know the model of your unit and see if it’s under warranty. If so, call the manufacturer first. Then, get multiple quotes for the project in question. Never get less than two quotes for any home remodeling project. Once received, compare all and make sure all include the same work. Check referrals and certifications before making a final decision.
Take germs, for example. The majority of people attempt to avoid these dangerous airborne, illness-causing organisms with hand sanitizer or by washing their hands regularly. But did you know that a old indoor coil in your own Mableton home can expose you and your family to fungi and bacteria in your duct systems? That’s why devices like the Ultraviolet Germicidal Light exist. They can help prevent the accumulation of germs in your home and allow you to breathe in clean air. Call us for a complimentary, in-home estimate to find out how we can install one of these in your duct system.
During a seasonal tune-up, our technicians run diagnostics on every part of your system. We make sure the fans run smoothly, the thermostat is programed to your liking, and that all critical parts are not showing signs of wear. If a component needs replacing, we will replace it for you before it gives out. We’ll even replace the filter for you – one less hassle!

So HVAC sent Tony Diaz to my house. I was at work so he was subjected to the most excruciatingly exacting woman on the planet (my wife). Tony impressed her with his friendliness, professionalism and the obvious jouneyman-level knowledge of his craft. He found literally --burnt-out-- parts in our system and replaced them. It cost us a bit but I know enough about the parts to see there was no gouging on the parts and a fair rate for the labor. It wasn't cheap but it was fair and worth every dime.

Inside the unit, the air passes over the evaporator coil first, and is cooled and dehumidified. The now dehumidified, cold air then passes over the condenser coil where it is warmed up again. Then the air is released back into the room. The unit produces warm, dehumidified air and can usually be placed freely in the environment (room) that is to be conditioned.

In 2006, a new HVAC rule went into affect for residential air conditioners, requiring all to have a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) of 13 or higher. As you might expect, the more efficient the unit is (or newer), the lower your average AC repair cost will be. Keep in mind, if for some reason your high-efficient repair bill is high, you’re still saving on energy costs every month through your electric and gas bills.

In the most general sense, air conditioning can refer to any form of technology that modifies the condition of air (heating, (de-)humidification, cooling, cleaning, ventilation, or air movement). In common usage, though, "air conditioning" refers to systems which cool air. In construction, a complete system of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning is referred to as HVAC.[3]
HVAC professionals attend to a home's thermal needs as well as air quality. Because of the technical aspects of HVAC work, find out the scope of work your professional can perform. You may only need your heating unit serviced however, if this professional also specializes in energy efficiency, mold assessment, or offer ways for you to save on energy costs, you may want to hire them for future projects. Because some equipment is gas-powered, your professional should be able to answer questions about installing gas lines and permitting.

Outside of your home is an outdoor unit, which is called a condenser. Inside the condenser is a compressor, a condenser coil, and a large fan. The compressor pumps cool refrigerant to an evaporator coil located either in the air handler or just outside the furnace. The evaporator coil gets really cold so that when the blower or furnace pushes warm air past it, the air is cooled. This cool air is then distributed throughout your home through a series of air ducts. Heat is absorbed by the evaporator coil, which warms the refrigerant moving through the coils. This warm refrigerant is then pumped back outside to the condenser coil, where a giant fan cools it off allowing the warm air to escape. This cycle is repeated until your thermostat detects that your home has reached the temperature you set it to.

R22 (also known as HCFC-22) has a global warming potential about 1,800 times higher than CO2.[61] It was phased out for use in new equipment by 2010, and is to be completely discontinued by 2020. Although these gasses can be recycled when air conditioning units are disposed of, uncontrolled dumping and leaking can release gas directly into the atmosphere.

This company deserves more than five stars. They didn't just replace my heater and air conditioner, they built me a new system for my house. Going above and beyond is a understatement. Steve's staff were 2 of the nicest workers I've come across in a long time. Friendly, knowledgeable, and very clean. Truly a top rated company. Thanks Steve.   Great job.
One problem occurred on Monday.  When we called at 2:30 in the afternoon to check on status, we were told that "the tech is on the phone with the parts supplier now".  It seems more likely that they had forgotten about us and our call woke them up.  But even if true, why the heck did they wait until 2:30 to order the part?  Maybe if they had ordered it in the morning they could have had it the same day.  So I'm taking off one star for that.

Hii need you guys help! Once my thermostat drop below the set temp , my furnace does not turn on and I was wondering what’s wrong with it. It happens mostly on cold nights. Sometimes I would have to go in the basement and turned the furnace power switch off then on and will come on once I switch it off then on.i also change the thermostat recently, so I don’t think that’s the problem

Designed to improve manufacturing process control in a printing plant, Carrier's invention controlled not only temperature but also humidity. Carrier used his knowledge of the heating of objects with steam and reversed the process. Instead of sending air through hot coils, he sent it through cold coils (filled with cold water). The air was cooled, and thereby the amount of moisture in the air could be controlled, which in turn made the humidity in the room controllable. The controlled temperature and humidity helped maintain consistent paper dimensions and ink alignment. Later, Carrier's technology was applied to increase productivity in the workplace, and The Carrier Air Conditioning Company of America was formed to meet rising demand. Over time, air conditioning came to be used to improve comfort in homes and automobiles as well. Residential sales expanded dramatically in the 1950s.[citation needed]

This doesn't mean air conditioning isn't right for your home. Some people are more sensitive to heat than others. Even if you can't justify the expense of central air conditioning, window air conditioning units will allow you to cool individual rooms tailored for your needs. If you work from home, you may want to put one of these units in your home office. If you have trouble sleeping with even modestly warm temperatures, you may want to put one in your bedroom. If you love to cook and spend long afternoons using the oven, your kitchen may be the place.
A career in this field may require you to meet certain licensing, training, and other requirements that can vary by vocation and state. In the fall you should prepare your HVAC unit for winter. Turn off your air conditioner’s circuit, then hose it off to remove debris. It must dry completely. Do this when it’s warm enough that there’s no risk of the water freezing. Cover the exposed pipes with foam pipe insulation ($1-$3), and protect your entire unit with a weatherproof cover ($20-$50).

Focus first on sealing ducts that run through the attic, crawlspace, unheated basement, or garage. Use duct sealant (mastic) or metal-backed (foil) tape to seal the seams and connections of ducts. After sealing the ducts in those spaces, wrap them in insulation to keep them from getting hot in the summer or cold in the winter. Next, look to seal any other ducts that you can access in the heated or cooled part of the house. See our Duct Sealing Fact Sheet (787KB) for more information.

Evaporative coolers, sometimes called "swamp coolers", do not have a compressor or condenser. Liquid water is evaporated on the cooling fins, releasing the vapor into the cooled area. Evaporating water absorbs a significant amount of heat, the latent heat of vaporisation, cooling the air. Humans and animals use the same mechanism to cool themselves by sweating.

A heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) service technician starts an appointment with a customer by asking about any problems with the heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning systems in the client's home or business. From there, the technician will carefully examine the equipment in question to diagnose and troubleshoot the problem. Once the issue is determined, the technician provides the customer with a repair quote and, if authorized, begins to repair or replace defective equipment, mechanical components, or wiring in HVAC systems. An HVAC service technician might also be called upon by a customer to carry out preventative maintenance tasks or inspections to ensure that heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems continue to run smoothly. A technician should have certification or an associate's degree from a technical or trade school that is accredited by HVAC Excellence, the National Center for Construction Education and Research, or the Partnership for Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Accreditation. Formal training programs can last anywhere from six months up to two years. The job involves working with electrical equipment, so it is very important that a technician know exactly what he or she is doing or the job can get very dangerous very quickly. If an education is not in the picture, it is sometimes possible to go through a formal apprenticeship program which can take three to five years and mixes on-the-job experience and training with classroom instruction. Exams for certifications are offered by a number of associations. A license to work as an HVAC technician is required in several states and can be obtained by passing a written test. Start with your utility company; they can help a great deal. Comparing previous bills isn't always a good measure, as the weather is never exactly the same month to month. Instead, if you take your energy bill and divide it by the square footage of livable space in your home, don't count areas like unfinished garages or basements -- you can calculate how much you are spending to heat or cool each square foot of your home. Your energy provider can tell you what the average cost per square foot is in your region for that same period of time so you can compare apples to apples.
