Evaporative coolers tend to feel as if they are not working during times of high humidity, when there is not much dry air with which the coolers can work to make the air as cool as possible for dwelling occupants. Unlike other types of air conditioners, evaporative coolers rely on the outside air to be channeled through cooler pads that cool the air before it reaches the inside of a house through its air duct system; this cooled outside air must be allowed to push the warmer air within the house out through an exhaust opening such as an open door or window. These coolers cost less and are mechanically simple to understand and maintain.

I'll give props to HVAC Service for being available quickly and having Saturday and Sunday appointments. Tony fixed our air conditioner and was professional. So why only 2 stars? Because we sent the receipt into our homeowner association to see if we could get reimbursed for some costs, and the property manager said that we paid THREE times more than we should have. We got conned. I advise you to call HVAC Service, but also shop around and get other estimates. Learn from our mistake!

Check that the 240-volt circuit breaker (double-pole breaker) controlling the air-conditioning compressor/condensing unit and the 120-volt circuit breaker controlling the furnace blower or separate air handler, is in the "On" positions. If a circuit breaker has tripped or a fuse is blown, then reset the circuit breaker or replace the fuse. If you reset the breaker or replace the fuse and they trip or blow again, stop and call an air-conditioning service technician, as you may have a more serious problem.
